With a strong outreach focus these workshops aim to connect the local community with two young female artists in Wales, Bonnie Grace and Safiyyah Altaf.Artist bioBonnie Grace is a multidisciplinary artist; working in ceramics, drawing, textiles, and printmaking. Her work is rooted in the domestic and the decorative, revolving around antiques. Bonnie uses continuous line drawings to start each project as a way to distance herself from the objects in order to dissect, explore, and translate them into something more. Working on paper allows for a sense of freedom , a space where ideas can be tested, reworked, and allowed to evolve. Her ceramics are a personal take on commemorative ware and traditional British ceramics. When working with clay, she struggles to think in 3D. From her line drawings, she uses slabs of clay as if they were paper, creating 2D yet 3D forms.Outline: Paper WeavesExplore the simple, creative act of paper weaving in this hands-on workshop. Using a “catalogue” of papers in various shapes, colours, and textures, you’ll add your own designs through mark-making, text, and drawing, cutting and weaving them into something entirely new. Experiment with colour, pattern, and texture to create compositions that can be reshaped, leaving you with a unique artwork to take home.—---Due to our venue’s capacity, spaces are limited.
